I would want the autograph of Josephine Baker (1906-1975) because she has a bubbly character despite experiencing numerous challenges. Again, Josephine attained success in a foreign country at a time racism was the ordeal. Josephine was a famous dancer and singer in France during the 1920’s who was devoted to fighting racism. She was born in St. Louis, Missouri. Her mother had given up her dream to become a dancer for a washerwoman, what Josephine would become, while her father abandoned them after birth. At only 8, Josephine took up odd jobs like cleaning and babysitting to provide for her family. Again, at 13 she served in a club as a waitress. At the time, she learned dancing and was seen touring the US with the Jones Family Band. Baker landed roles in the shuffle along music; her performances were comical which built her popularity with audiences. In 1925, she moved to France and quickly became a favorite. Josephine Baker performed in La Revue Nègre hall, Folies Bergère music halls numerous pieces garnering much success…………………………words 409
