Introduction

Sealed off is a story that opened in the city of Shanghai in China’s commercial industry, technological and urban set up in the year 1943. The story took place during the Second World War, when air sirens were commons feature of city life (Byrne, 2007).

Discussion

            The narration of the story is done from a third character restricted perspective. The readers have the ability of seeing into the consideration and enthusiasm of both Cuiyuan and Zongzhen. Therefore, they are able to derive reality from the story. There is also an omniscient presentation in that one is able to interpret both characters’ thoughts, and the author’s command through his comments (Wang, 2004). The comments uttered by Chang have boldness and create an atmosphere of reader sympathy in reference to the two characters………………………words 388
