Hello,

Re-inventing products or services is not confusing to marketers if proper information is provided along with the proper techniques used to introduce them. Changing products over time helps the life-cycle of products or services because markets and industries change overtime.

Hello Michelle,

The first migraine medication was introduced in injection form then Glaxo re-invented the medication into a nasal spray and pill form (Kotabe & Helsen, 2010). Glaxo has a widely recognized brand name and was accepted by physicians and customers so creating more options of the same product would keep up with demands and needs by patients.
Replacement of products-in this case migraine medication was effective. However, due to differences of symptoms, doctors needed a wide range of medication to treat individual patients needs. Changing strategies and branding techniques allows companies to compete within their respectable market but should be done with careful consideration. According to product life cycles -not all end users will accept products and usage will change over time, therefore replacing, re-inventing and improving products is considered effective.
